(Director, Professor : Tetsuo Endoh)Enabling an innovative energy-saving, eco society that will change our lifestyles is the ultimate goal of the project, “Achieving Ultimate Green IT Devices with Long Usage Times without Charging,” (Program Manager: Masashi Sahashi), which was accepted as a program for “Impulsing Paradigm Change through Disruptive Technologies Program (ImPACT).” This can be achieved by developing ultimate green IT devices with long usage times without charging by making each constituent of computer systems non-volatile, such as memory and information processing, and by creating ultra-low energy consuming states with innovative spintronics technology.
Contributing to this concept, the team behind the research project “Spintronics Integrated Circuit Project” (Project Leader*: Tetsuo Endoh) aims to be the first in the world to develop fundamental technology for innovative ultra-low power consumption microcomputers that operate with energy harvesting. This fundamental technology will be achieved by integrating world-leading spintronics device technology at the 3X nm node, 300-mm integration process technology, and innovative circuit architecture technology, while elevating the development of spintronics integrated circuit technologies.
Term of Project: October 2014 - March 2019
